The
Park City Jazz Festival is conducted every year in the month of August by the
Park City Jazz Foundation (PCJF). This is a nonprofit organization set up in 1997. The aim of the Foundation is to promote Jazz by educating people, creating awareness about Jazz and organizing performances for wider appreciation. The Festival is an opportunity to meet and watch international stars perform before the people of Utah.
The venue for the Festival is the
Deer Valley Resort in
Park City. This is big fun-filled event for the entire family and showcases all things connected with Jazz. The Festival takes place over four days. There are live performances by Jazz artists, jazz movies, art exhibits, corners were you can interact and discuss Jazz and to top it all, good food and beverages to set the mood for enjoyment.
The revenue generated from ticket sales go towards funding musical scholarships and educational programs. Tickets for the local people of Utah are at reduced prices while the entry for children is free.
The Saturday of the Festival every year is celebrated as Education day. On this day, free clinics are held during which artists and students are brought together in close proximity. The topics for these clinics depend on Jazz artists performing at the Festival.
More than 500 people participate in these clinics every year. The clinics are interactive and lively, providing a rare opportunity to the Jazz aficionado to learn the right way. The topics that have been discussed in the past are styles of jazz, history of jazz, instrumentation instruction and so on. These clinics are held at the Ecker Hill Middle School.
The panoramic view of the mountains and the cool breeze wafting across lend an air of adventure to the Jazz Festival. So come to Utah and enjoy "Jazz with an attitude".
