Salt Lake City is a sophisticated metropolitan area, home to many fabulous shopping centers and malls. You can lose yourself for hours shopping at name brand stores in the city's finest malls. If you are planning a shopping excursion in Salt Lake City, be sure to check these hot shopping destinations out while you're in town.
Gateway and City Creek Center (Formerly Downtown Mall)
The Downtown Mall located on South Main Street was once one of the city's hottest shopping centers. This shopping mall consisted of two unique shopping areas, the Crossroads Plaza and the ZCMI Center Mall, that were collectively referred to as the Downtown Mall. Recently, the Downtown Mall was demolished to make way for an ultra-chic outdoor shopping mall and a mixed use development. The first property, known as the Gateway, is open and features trendy shops as well as a variety of restaurants and entertainment options. Here, you can shop at A Pea In The Pod, Abercrombie, Aeropostale, Banana Republic, Foot Locker, Express, Forever 21, Gap, American Eagle Outfitters, Applebee's, Ben and Jerry's, Biaggi's, Fleming's, Edo Japan, and more. You will also find the Clark Planetarium, an IMAX theater, the Discovery Gateway Children's Museum, and a 12-screen movie theater here. The other property, City Creek Center, is expected to open this spring, and will be home to residential and office space as well as large department stores like Macy's and Nordstrom, a Harmon's grocery store, and over 500,000 square feet of additional retail and restaurant space. Collectively, these two developments will span three city blocks, and will make ample use of outdoor natural areas with only pedestrian foot traffic permitted and gorgeous landscaping with fountain features throughout.
Trolley Square
You will also want to spend some time exploring the prestigious Trolley Square on your shopping excursion in Salt Lake City. This large shopping center spans a full city block in the heart of the city, not far from Pioneer Park and the University of Utah, at 600 S 700 East. Here, you will find over ninety name brand stores including Black Chandelier, Sagebrush Gallery, Sharper Image, Gap Kids, Bath and Body Works, Pottery Barn, Banana Republic and others. Take a break from your fun day of shopping and grab a bite to eat at one of the many popular eateries on-site such as The Old Spaghetti Factory, Hard Rock Cafe, Rodizio Grill, Green Street Social Club, and Desert Edge Brewery at the Pub.
